about us
Annette Gutjahr and Rolf Kirschbaum reinterpret classic songs and arias in a respectful, emotional way, intensively and...quite differently: The duo's music oscillates between sparsely instrumented songs and multi-layered pieces. Classical singing interweaves with electronic beats, spherical sounds and electric guitar to create new levels of sound. Annette Gutjahr sings the original vocal lines of the vocal compositions and her warm, colorful classical contralto voice meets the rough earthiness of the electric guitar and the contrasting fields of electronic music. Rolf Kirschbaum's emotional and intuitive interpretation of the works tells the stories in a new way and places unusual and intense highlights on well-known compositions. With his characteristic sound, he opens up completely new spaces for the voice, which, more adaptation than interpretation, is detached from the usual context and surrounded by new, unusual musical worlds. in

Rolf Kirschbaum

The guitarist, electronics engineer, producer Rolf Kirschbaum has held a special position in the German music landscape for many years. His idiosyncratic style prompts critics and other professional music listeners to make new comparisons and flowery metaphors again and again: "Impressive inventiveness", "radical emotionality", "tonal Dadaism" and "almost frightening intensity" were attested to the "exceptional guitarist". Bands such as Fehlfarben hired him as a producer and live musician, Joachim Witt hired him and his experimental rock group "The Pachinko Fake" as a touring band. Taj Mahal, Mark Burgess (The Chameleons), Holly Cole, Mary Coughlan and many others trusted his ears live and on CD productions.
